Shaheed Balwinder Singh Manochahal was renowned for his involvement in the attack on Julio Ribeiro, the DIG of Punjab, at PAP Jalandhar on 3rd October 1986. Ribeiro narrowly escaped in this assassination attempt. Bhai Balwinder Singh attained martyrdom on 30 March 1993.
In a photograph, he is seen addressing a gathering at Village Khadoor Sahib, supporting Bibi Darshan Kaur, one of the candidates for the Punjab Assembly Election in 1991. Unfortunately, this election was canceled by the Central Government of India when they foresaw the potential victory of the Singhs in this election. Bhai Balwinder Singh was the candidate from the Naushehra Pannuan region for the MLA election, nominated by Baba Gurbachan Singh Manochahal.
